The short answer

Which accounting services does a growing business need?

Most businesses need clean monthly bookkeeping and year-round tax planning first. Add an outsourced controller when margins and payables need closer control, usually past $3M in revenue. Add a fractional CFO for forecasts, budgets and board reporting. Use Quality of Earnings when you buy or sell.

What services does AceCPAs offer?

Six: outsourced bookkeeping and accounting, outsourced controller services, fractional CFO services, tax planning and preparation, Quality of Earnings for buyers and sellers, and SBA lender Quality of Earnings reports. All six outsourced accounting services are run by one licensed CPA firm for businesses earning $1M to $50M.

What is the difference between a bookkeeper, a controller and a fractional CFO?

A bookkeeper records and reconciles transactions and closes the books each month. A controller owns the process: payables, receivables, costing and a monthly margin review. A fractional CFO looks forward: cash forecasts, budgets, pricing and funding decisions, and reporting to your bank or board.

Can I start with one service and add more later?

Yes. Most clients start with bookkeeping and tax planning, then add a controller or fractional CFO as they grow. The same team keeps your books, so nothing is handed off or rebuilt when you add a service.

How much do your services cost?

It depends on transaction volume, the number of entities and accounts, and which services you need. After a free 30-minute review you get a fixed-fee proposal with one monthly fee, before any work starts. Quality of Earnings is quoted per deal. No hourly billing.

Which accounting software do you use?

We keep books in QuickBooks Online. If you use QuickBooks Desktop, we move you to QuickBooks Online as part of setup. We also connect the tools your industry relies on, such as A2X for ecommerce payouts.

What is the difference between Quality of Earnings and an SBA lender QoE?

A Quality of Earnings report tests the earnings behind a deal price for a buyer or seller. An SBA lender QoE is engaged directly by the SBA 7(a) lender, as SOP Appendix 15 requires for covered loans, so a report the buyer ordered does not satisfy it.

Do you work with businesses outside North Carolina?

Yes. AceCPAs is based in Raleigh, NC, and works with businesses across the US. Everything runs online, with video calls, a shared document portal and a CPA you can reach by phone, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM ET.
