The short answer
Why does industry-specific accounting matter?
Each industry earns money in its own way. A contractor needs profit by job, a practice needs collections by payer, a seller needs margin by SKU and a SaaS company needs revenue spread over the contract. Generic books hide these numbers. Industry-specific accounting reports them every month.
Ask a CPA which fits| Industry | Generic books show | We report |
|---|---|---|
| One P&L for the whole company, revenue booked when invoiced. | WIP schedule with over- and underbillings, and margin by open job. | |
| Deposits booked as revenue, one set of numbers for every site. | Collections and days in A/R by payer, and a P&L by location. | |
| Marketplace payouts booked as sales, inventory at factory cost. | Payouts split into sales, fees, ads and tax, and margin by SKU and channel. | |
| Cash in booked as revenue, annual deals recognized up front. | Revenue recognized over the contract, with ARR, deferred revenue and runway. |

Ask a CPA directlyWhich industries does AceCPAs specialize in?
Four: construction, healthcare, ecommerce and SaaS & AI. Each has its own chart of accounts, monthly reports and review checklist.
What is industry-specific accounting?
It is bookkeeping, controller and CFO work set up around how one industry earns money. The chart of accounts, revenue rules and monthly reports match that industry, such as a WIP schedule for contractors or margin by SKU for online sellers.
Why not use a general bookkeeper?
A general bookkeeper can keep accurate books, but usually reports one company-wide P&L. That hides the numbers your decisions depend on, such as a losing job, a slow payer or a sales channel that loses money after fees. We report those every month.
Do you work with businesses outside these four industries?
Often, yes. Our bookkeeping, controller, CFO and tax services work for most $1M to $50M businesses. Book a free review and a CPA will tell you on the first call whether our setup suits your business.
Which accounting software do you use?
We keep books in QuickBooks Online and connect the tools each industry runs on, such as A2X for Shopify and Amazon payouts. If you use QuickBooks Desktop, we move you to QuickBooks Online as part of setup.
How much does industry accounting cost?
It depends on transaction volume, entities and which services you need. After a free 30-minute review you get a fixed-fee proposal with one monthly fee, before any work starts. No hourly billing.
